The Distillers, one of my favorite not - so - mainstream bands are no more. They've broken up, therefore dashing my hopes of a follow up CD to the brilliant Coral Fang (released in 2003). Lead singer Brody Dalle (from Australia, NOT the USA) has just announced she has formed a new band called Spinnerette with The Distillers' guitarist Tony Bevilacqua and Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age). They will begin recording their first album this summer.
While I am crushed by the news of The Distillers calling it quits, I am excited and waiting ever so patiently to hear what Dalle comes up with next. The woman is a mouthy, ass kicking musical talent, who, in her own words has, "...evolved." She is confident and sexy without effort and without being trashy. Others should be taking notes *cough cough Courtney Love cough cough*
I will forever miss The Distillers, but they will live on in my earphones for eternity.
